David Tipton

 David Burch Tipton, 72 of Birmingham, Alabama succumbed to a lengthy illness on June 6, 2022. David was born in Waco, TX on August 3, 1949 to Ben W. Tipton, Jr. and Martha Tipton. He married Mary Sue Smith on February 6, 1971 and was blessed with 51 years of marriage. They raised one daughter, Jennifer, and one son, Burch. David was in the automotive industry in Texas and Alabama for 30+ years, part of which time he was a Chevrolet dealer in Birmingham. He loved to travel and visited many parts of the US as well as many countries around the world. He valued the experiences gained and memories made from his travels. He liked to spend time outside either playing golf or just sitting on his deck or patio appreciating the natural solitude of his backyard. He was an enthusiastic sports fan who enjoyed watching NASCAR, PGA golf tournaments, the Dallas Cowboys, and especially cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide. David is survived by his wife Mary Sue, his daughter Jennifer and son in-law Tom Bush III, his son Burch and daughter in-law Evelyn, his grandchildren Tommy, Aly, Seph, and Zoe Bush, his brother Ben W. Tipton III and sister in-law Rosemary, his niece Martha and husband Fletcher Cook. David was a member of Crossbridge Church of Christ for 24 years and cherished the friendships he made through the church. A special thank you to Andi, Stephanie, Laken, Mandy, Bobby, Heather and David of Encompass Healthcare for the loving care and support that they always showed him. A Celebration of Life service will be held at noon on Saturday, June 18 at Crossbridge Church of Christ in Birmingham, AL. His ashes will be iinterred at the family cemetery in Wardville, OK. Memorial donations may be made to the Wardville Cemetery Association or the Shriners Children’s Ohio.
