Joe Edwin "Jodie" Godfrey, 59, went to be with the Lord peacefully Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009, with his family by his side.
Graveside service: 2 p.m. Monday in Larissa Cemetery in Mount Selman. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth.
Jodie was born Nov. 22, 1949, in Longview. He proudly served his country for four years in the U.S. Army and was a member of VFW Post 8911. Jodie had a successful career in sales. He always loved to be No. 1 at any and all sports and had a passion for sports cars. Jodie was a religious man with a deep Christian faith. He started cooking when he was young and could often be found entertaining his family and friends in front of his grill cooking delicious meals. Jodie was a man who lived life to the fullest, always wore a brilliant smile and was known for his infectious laugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Henry Godfrey and Glenice Chapman, both of Fort Worth.
Survivors: Wife of 12 years, Carol Godfrey; previous wife, Pam Chaney; son, Gregory Grant Godfrey; daughter, Tiffany Ann Godfrey; stepsons, Kevin James Lemerand and wife, Jo Dee, Brian Jon Lemerand and wife, Tracy, and Randy Jay Lemerand and wife, Meredith; grandchildren, Brie Jolie Godfrey and Taylor Marene Lemerand; sister, Lynda Brewer and husband, Ron; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
