David passed away on August 25, 2024. Further information will be posted when received.

David Wayne Kubiak, the youngest child of Bill and Margie Kubiak of Fort Worth, passed away at age 74 on August 25, 2024, from complications of kidney disease. David attended Paschal High School then graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Texas Weslayan College in 1973.
David soon moved to Houston looking for a new start and found it at Gray Tool Co., an oil and gas equipment manufacturing company poised for growth. It was here that David would find a lifelong career and partner, Betty Kubiak. They married on November 15, 1975, and not long after, relocated to the Midland/Odessa area where they made many long-lasting friendships. Next it was on to London and then Vienna, Austria. They returned to Houston in 1984 where they remained. David retired in 2005 from where his career began 32 years before.
David had a thirst for knowledge and adventure. He was a motorcyclist, scuba diver, amateur magician, woodworker, and avid photographer. He was fascinated by Science and the Heavens so he bought his first telescope in West Texas, a perfect place for capturing the evening skies. He was a proud member of Goldwing Road Riders Association and the Society of American Magicians. He loved entertaining friends and family with whatever new magic he had up his sleeve!
David and Betty loved to travel. Betty planned the trip and he would photograph it! They visited many awe inspiring places, but their last trip together in 2017 was one of the most memorable, a wonderful tour of Ireland, and a magical way to end their travels.
David was preceded in death by his father and mother, his best friend Ricky Rotenberry, and numerous aunts and uncles that he held dear. He is survived by his sister, Shirley Kubiak Brown of Phoenix, and brother, Ken Kubiak of Houston, along with their spouses Milt Brown and Jackie Kubiak; nieces Dr. Kendra Kubiak Lin and Shannon Brown Reagan; his nephew and Godson, Erich Brown; plus many great nieces that he adored.
David was never one to brag about himself; he just did what needed to be done to the best of his ability. His hard work and dedication were appreciated by both his customers and his peers.
David will be remembered for his kind heart, generosity, love of family, and his joyful spirit. His death leaves a void that can never be filled. He will be missed. A Celebration of David’s Life will be held at a date to be determined.

I will always remember David as a kind and gentle soul with a beautiful smile. I had kept up with him through his sister Shirley. I appreciated his terrific photography every day on my Webshots screensaver. We first met at South Fort Worth Elementary. I will hold David in my heart forever as a wonderful friend.

David was one of my first friends at South Fort Worth Elementary. He, David Hope, Ronald Muliller and I rode bicycles together in our neighborhood and played ball in the middle of Bolt Street - being careful to dodge cars! I regret losing contact with him as adults. My condolences to his wife and family.
