Glenna Bell Orman

Since my time at Paschal High School I attended Southwest Texas State University, where I was one of the first women to major in Agriculture (A&M didn't accept women then), received my Associate's Degree in Theology from Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas, lived in Montana for 13 years, and the D.C. area for seven, worked and and lived in Mexico City and have retired from the "corporate world" where I was an Executive Assistant for over twenty years.

Returning to Burnet in 2002 to care for my terminal mother, my life has taken a turn to helping with the family ranch, and working on Rocky Mountain guest ranches. Since I have oficially "un-retired", my time is spent serving on area non-profit boards, Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center, and as 1st Vice President of the Texas Equestrian Trail Riders Association. It's great to be on the back of a horse again! Be sure to Look for us in the Fort Worth All Western Stock Show Parade every year. Helping on weekend retreats such as Koinonia, Walk to Emmaus and Episcopal Cursillo have been a life-long privilege.

St. Luke's Cypress Mill Episcopal Church gets to hear me every Sunday on the organ or keyboard. They are honoring me in February with a "Golden Anniversary of Organ Performance". Currently hosting my fifth exchange student, this one from China, and I look forward to more "world" travel!

Over the years I've been a church planter, licensed foster parent, volunteer and salaried church youth director, volunteer and paid church Music Director, Choir Director and organist for small rural churches, a local 4-H Horse Club volunteer, traveled to Mexico, Guatemala, France, Scandinavia, most of the US, Canada, Alaska and Hawaii.

If I remember correctly, which at our age can be questionable, I was the ONLY member of a 4-H club at Paschal High School and a devoted member of the Crowley Saddle Club. Thanks to the encouragement of our Home Economics teacher, Mrs. Butzky, I was honored to win the 2nd Annual Adams Extract Teen Bake Off in Dallas the Spring of 1967. My picture appeared on the front page of the Dallas Morning News and Mrs. Butzky and I each won expense paid round trips each to Mexico City and Acapulco. At the annual PHS talent show, I played "Espana Cani", and ya'll started clapping to the music! It was awesome!

The summer after my Junior year, my family moved to our ranch in Burnet, Texas, so I missed graduating with all the fine students of PHS Class of 1968.
